Capilano Chilli Honey Infusions

Spice lovers, it’s time to take the sweet honey you know and love
to fiery new heights.
Here are five ways to infuse, mix and blend chilli with Capilano honey to create exciting flavours. with a spicy-sweet kick.

 

Whether you’re a spice fan (who can’t get enough of the hot stuff), or someone who likes to keep it on the milder side, the sweet-spicy balance is all yours to explore… and the result is always delicious!

Fermented Jalapeño Honey

The Capilano kitchen are big fans of fermented honey, so this Jalapeño infusion should be no surprise! The sharp twang of Jalapeños bursts through deep Manuka honey in this recipe.

 

Heat Rating: HOT
INGREDIENTS
  • 600g Capilano Bioactive Manuka honey 
  • 4 fresh Jalapeños
METHOD
  1. Place sliced fresh Jalapeños into a sterilised jar.
  2. Fill up to the top with Capilano Active Manuka Honey
  3. Allow to ferment for a few weeks, then store for up to a few months

Serve with: CORN BLINIS WITH SMOKED SALMON

Sriracha Honey Sauce

Great on it’s own, but even better when mixed in with smooth caramel honey. This sauce boasts a distinct flavour profile with the perfect hint of spice to contrast the sweetness. Tangy, bright and great on veggies – this sauce is oh-so versatile.

INGREDIENTS
  • 85ml (⅓ cup) rice vinegar
  • 180g (½ cup) Capilano Pure Honey
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 2 tsp sriracha sauce
  • 3 tbsp pineapple juice
  • ½ tsp crushed garlic
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp corn flour
  • 2 tbsp water
METHOD
  1. In a small bowl, combine corn flour and water, mix well and set aside.
  2. Combine rice vinegar, honey, soy sauce, ketchup, sriracha, pineapple juice, garlic and onion powder in a medium-sized bowl. Whisk until well combined.
Serve with: Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Sweet Honey Chilli Glaze

Be ready for any occasion with a homemade version of everyone’s-favourite sweet chilli sauce. A super delicious way to control the heat and texture in your chilli-honey escapades.

 

Heat Rating: MEDIUM
INGREDIENTS
  • 85ml (⅓ cup) rice vinegar
  • ½ cup (175g) Capilano Pure Honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 tbsp tomato sauce/ketchup
  • ½ tbsp hot chilli sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice wine vinegar
  • 1 tsp dried chilli flakes
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tsp corn flour
  • ¼ cup warm water
METHOD
  1. Place honey, garlic, tomato sauce, chilli sauce, rice wine vinegar, chilli flakes, and salt in a small saucepan over medium heat.
  2. In a small bowl add water and cornflour, mix well, and then pour the slurry into the saucepan with the honey mixture, stirring to combine.
  3. Continue to simmer until the glaze thickens and becomes glossy.
  4. Keep warm until it is time to toss through your dish!
Serve with: Air Fryer Sweet Potato Chips

Smokey Hot Honey Sauce

If you’re looking for a dip-worthy party sauce, this is it. Rich, caramel and with a slightly-smokey aftertaste – this condiment has heaps of flavour, and only takes a couple of minutes to whip up when guests come knocking!

 

Heat Rating: MILD-HOT (Depending on your hot sauce)
INGREDIENTS
  • 90g (¼ cup) Capilano Pure Honey
  • 2 tsp BBQ hot sauce
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
METHOD
  1. Combine honey, hot sauce and smoked paprika in a bowl and mix until well combined.
  2. Microwave for 30 seconds to warm the honey and stir again to combine.
Serve with: Fried Goat’s Cheese Balls
