Capilano Creates Apprentice Beekeepers Jobs

With the long-term sustainability of the Australian beekeeping industry at the forefront of our purpose, we launched Capilano’s Keeping Futures program in mid-2017.

The start of a long-term commitment that aims to deliver a range of projects in the beekeeping community and Australian Universities, Keeping Futures has been established to promote the long term protection and sustainability of Australia’s honey bee colonies and the beekeepers that take such good care of them.

Bee a Beekeper Project

This fabulous initiative was announced by commencing our first official project, Bee a Beekeeper, which saw three fully funded beekeeping scholarships on offer to school leavers of any age.
We were thrilled to receive almost 150 applications for these exciting roles. After an extended selection process, which included site tours and information sessions to allow candidates to get a detailed insight into what they could learn undertaking a beekeeping apprenticeship, we realised the level of talent and enthusiasm was so high that rather than making three offers, we ended up awarding FOUR fully-funded scholarships!

These were our successful beekeeping apprentices:

⦁ Adrian Impa from Clifton, QLD.
⦁ Cameron Taylor-Brown from Evans Head, NSW.
⦁ Jonathan Martin from Glenn Innes, NSW.
⦁ Zachary Thiel from Evans Head, NSW.

New opportunities coming soon!

Our apprentices have also been generously kitted out with the latest beekeeping gear, kindly donated by Lyson Australia, one of the world’s leading beekeeping equipment brands.

We’d like to thank everyone who applied for these wonderful opportunities. It was fantastic to see so many people interested in pursuing a career as a professional beekeeper. We are committed to supporting beekeeper education and will continue promoting the trade so younger generations will consider beekeeping as a viable career option in the future.

Please stay tuned to learn more about our new apprentices and to follow their journey to become fully fledged beekeepers.
