Active Manuka Honey is prized for its health-supporting properties, and widely studied for its antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and wound-healing effects. Some of these include:

  • Antibacterial activity, which may reduce inflammation
  • Inhibition of bad bacteria, which helps the body’s natural processes to support gut health
  • Maintains hydration, reduces inflammation and sterilizes in wound healing

Here are 4 ways you can harness its range of beneficial properties for your skin.

Capilano Active Manuka Honey Skincare

1.  Straight from the jar

Beauty routines don’t need to be complicated. Make the most of the antibacterial properties of Active Manuka honey by applying it directly onto damp skin. If you’re not in the mood to do a full mask, simply dab some on as a spot treatment, and let the anti-inflammatory actives go to work. Wash off with warm water after 15 minutes and follow up with a moisturiser for best results.

2. As a bath soak

We’ve all heard of using oatmeal in a bath to soothe upset skin. Next time you’re filling up the tub add 1 cup of oats (oatmeal) and ¼ cup (90g) of Capilano Active Manuka honey. Not only will you smell great, but the skin-soothing properties of the oats and the hydrating power of the honey will leave your skin calm and quenched.

Say goodbye to chapped lips. This recipe is super simple and can be modified in so many ways. To create your own DIY Active Manuka Honey lip balm, simply warm one tablespoon of honey with three tablespoons of coconut oil or Shea butter (available from health food stores) until just melted, then pour into a sanitised container and refrigerate overnight, voilà!

 4. Combined with Matcha for a soothing face mask

This recipe by Stephanie Gerber from Hello Glow combines the benefits of two powerhouse ingredients: Green tea and Active Manuka Honey. They work together using antioxidants to help repair damage on the skin.
