Capilano Helps Fund Honey Bee Research Centre
At Capilano Honey, we proudly support a range of projects in the beekeeping community and Australian Universities that are designed to promote the long-term protection and sustainability of Australia’s honey bee colonies. Having a healthy bee population is vital for the environment and essential to the survival of the agricultural industry.
A new Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) Programme, led by the University of Western Australia, is set to improve relationships with industry and Australian scientists as they collectively research solutions to pests and diseases, pollination security, unique Australian Manuka plant species, unlocking bee product value, traceability from bush to product and better utilisation of genetics in breeding bees.
The ‘CRC for Honey Bee Products’ programme
Titled ‘CRC for Honey Bee Products’, the programme will also focus on professional training for the next generation of beekeepers and providing a future career path to attract new entrants to the industry.
Capilano Honey is proud to provide funding support for this great new Australia wide research initiative which has seen Senator Arthur Sinodinos, Minister for Industry, Innovation and Science, approve up to $7 million dollars of funding for the CRC, making this project the largest cooperative bee research project ever undertaken in Australia.
Senator Sinodinos confirmed,
