METHOD
  1. In a small jug whisk together the milk, egg and Manuka until combined.
  2. Place flour in a bowl and make a well in the centre. Pour the milk mixture into the flour and whisk until smooth.
  3. Heat a large non-stick frying pan over low-medium heat. Add ½ teaspoon butter to the pan.
  4. Dollop 5 – 7 heaped tablespoons of the mixture into the pan. When bubbles begin to form around the edges and the bottom is golden, flip the pikelets and cook for another minute until the other side is golden
  5. Remove and repeat with remaining pikelet batter. To serve, combine Manuka and sifted cocoa powder, mix well until smooth. Dollop onto pikelets and top with fresh fruit, granola and chia.

BREKKY TIP: Encourage your kids to wake up earlier, and make time for family in the morning. It’s a wonder what an extra 20-30 mins in the morning can do! Plus it’ll ensure they’re awake, switched on and ready for the day before they walk out the door.

Perfect Porridge

Nothing says comfort like a big bowl of warming porridge. Sometimes it’s the simple things that lift us up and feel our best in the morning like the simple flavours of creamy oats and golden honey. Whether you make yours from quick oats sachets, or the classic stovetop method, or even superfood-packed versions like our Rolled Oat, Quinoa and LSA porridge, simply add a squeeze of bioactive Manuka honey to feel an even healthier buzz in the morning.

Recipe Time: 15 mins
INGREDIENTS
  • 1 cup (90g) traditional rolled oats
  • 150ml pure cream
  • 1 ½ cups (375ml) cups full cream milk
  • 1 tbsp Capilano Pure Honey, plus extra to serve (or Capilano Manuka Honey for an extra boost)
  • ½ tsp cinnamon, ground
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
METHOD
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine all ingredients and mix well.
  2. Turn stovetop heat to medium-low and gently stir oats for 10-15 minutes until thick and creamy. For best results, leave mixture a little loose as it will thicken while it rests.
  3. Divide into bowls and top with an extra swirl of Capilano Pure Honey, or Capilano Active Manuka Honey. Add a splash of extra cream, berries and banana if desired.

TIP – leftover porridge can be stored in an airtight contained and chilled for up to 2 days. Simply add back to saucepan with additional milk to recreate creamy texture.

Our top brekky recommendation? Keep it simple on busy days!

A few spoonfuls of creamy yoghurt, some granola, fruit and a generous drizzle of Bioactive Manuka honey is a great way to add a boost to their morning.
