Blend up a single shot, or prepare a batch so you can shot-and-go. This refreshing home remedy is the quickest and tastiest way to take the edge of a sore, scratchy throat.

Having better-for-you foods doesn’t have to mean trading up taste. Australian Manuka Honey has a sweeter, smoother taste compared to the New Zealand variety, so its the perfect addition to natural elixirs!

1. Beetroot, Ginger, Lemon and Manuka Shot

Blend sweet manuka, zesty lemon and zingy ginger for a quick and tasty sore throat soother.

INGREDIENTS
  • 1/4 cup Capilano Active Manuka Honey 
  • 5 beetroot medium size, peeled and cut into small pieces
  • 1-2 inches ginger root or 1 Tbsp ginger powder
  • 1 fresh lemon
METHOD
  1. Wash and scrub the beetroot and ginger.
  2. Peel and cut the beetroot into small pieces that will fit into a juicer.
  3. Feed the ginger and then beetroot through the juicer.
  4. Squeeze the lemon separately.
  5. Add ginger, beetroot and lemon juice to a blender and add Capilano Manuka Honey. Blend.
  6. Store in an airtight glass jar in the fridge for 2-3 days.
CAPILANO TIP:

Dilute with sparkling or mineral water for a zesty non-alcoholic spritz, or into some tap water for little ones with sensitive tastebuds.

2. Turmeric, Manuka and Orange Elixir

A cup of sweet elixir is a refreshing way to kick-start your day. With the natural benefits of citrus, earthy turmeric and bioactive Manuka Honey.

INGREDIENTS
  • 1/2 cup Capilano Active Manuka Honey 
  • 2-4 Tbsp freshly grated ginger
  • 2 tsp ground turmeric, or freshly grated turmeric
  • Grated zest of 1 lemon, unwaxed
  • 2 pinches ground black pepper
METHOD
  1. Stir all ingredients together in a bowl.
  2. Taste and add more ginger or turmeric if required. The mixture should be flavourful as you only use a small amount.
  3. Enjoy by adding a teaspoon or two to a cup of hot water or to your favourite tea. Always allow boiling water to cool slightly before mixing syrup in to keep the benefits of Manuka intact.
  4. Store in a glass container in the fridge.

 Add in the juice from some fresh ginger to start your day with a kick or dilute into some tap water for little ones with sensitive taste buds.

3. Apple Cider Vinegar and Manuka Honey Shot

This health shot combines the nourishing and bioactive benefits of Manuka honey, cinnamon and bitter apple cider vinegar with “the Mother” (a living mixture of friendly bacteria, minerals and enzymes).

INGREDIENTS
  • 1 Tbsp Capilano Active Manuka Honey 
  • 1 Tbsp warm water, or more if desired
  • 1 Tbsp raw apple cider vinegar with “The Mother”
  • 1 dash ground cinnamon
METHOD
  1. Whisk warm water and Capilano Manuka Honey until combined.
  2. Stir in the apple cider vinegar and cinnamon.
  3. Pour into a shot size glass and enjoy!
CAPILANO TIP:

Double the recipe and store the shots in small bottles in the fridge for a grab-and-go morning wake-up sip or pour into ice cube trays and freeze for when you need a quick booster for your smoothies and drinks.
